The rumor has it that imperial tent gets erected near Saint Paraskevi during the Conquest of Istanbul. When some government officials propose to convert the church into a mosque to pray the Friday prayer, Mehmed II rejects the idea and commands the construction of an open-air mosque nearby. And after the Conquest, the first patriarch elected Gennadius shows his respect for Mehmed II by replacing the liturgy on Fridays instead of Sundays. Today, liturgies take place in this church only in Easter, due to Greek depopulation in the area. There is also an abandoned holy spring in this church.
