Located outside Silivrikapı, one of the city wall gates, the tomb houses a warrior who came to Istanbul with Abu Eyyub al Ansari according to a source whereas another source claims that he is Muslihüddin Dede, a flag-bearer of Mehmed II. It is said that he fell martyr in front of Silivrikapı with an arrow which came through his shield. The rumor has it that he is named after sieve (elek in Turkish) during the war, after saying “We came here being eliminated one-by-one like we are going through a sieve.”. The wooden roof of his tomb which had sieves on was burnt in a fire in 1925.
